About Sharon Kwan
I decided to run for this City Council seat as I want to further my efforts in giving back to our community. I originally moved to Arcadia over twenty years ago and have been a resident in the Upper Rancho Estate for over 10 years. I chose to move to Arcadia for its natural resources, public facilities, and friendly attractions, all to help me support and raise my four children. Our community has been so welcoming and nurturing in all these years and has blessed me with so much. Now that three of my kids are off in college and my youngest will join them in two years, I’ve found myself with more free time to support our community. I’ve shown my love for Arcadia by serving as the President of the Upper Rancho HOA for ten years, as well as serving on the Boards of the Methodist Hospital Foundation and the Downtown Arcadia Association. Now, I want to help our City even more, as well as show my children how important it is to give back. I want to be their role model and for them to possibly follow in my footsteps one day in serving our community.
Sharon Kwan’s priorities as a City Council member will be:
- public safety
- maintaining our strong property values
As a small business owner, I know the importance of keeping a balanced budget and being fiscally responsible. Being a longtime property owner, I’ve invested in our community and understand what an important asset our homes are. Additionally, I am the only District 2 candidate that can speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese fluently. I can help bridge the divide between new immigrants and longtime residents of Arcadia through communication, consideration, and mutual respect, especially important in our ever-changing world of diversity, inclusion, and equality. Sharon Kwan represents the next generation of civic leaders ready to take Arcadia into the future.
