Dear fellow Arcadians: As most of you know, I have been off the city council and out of public office for about 8 years. However …
I decided to run for City Council because I want to give back to our community. I originally moved to Arcadia over twenty years ago and have been a resident in the Upper Rancho Estate for over 12 years. I chose to move to Arcadia for its natural resources, public facilities, and friendly attractions, all to support and raise my four children. Our community has been so welcoming and nurturing to me and my family all these years and has blessed me with so much. Now that three of my kids are off to college and my youngest will join them in just 2 short years, I’ve found myself with more free time. I’ve shown my love for Arcadia by serving as the President of the Upper Rancho HOA for 10 years, as well as serving on the Boards of the Methodist Hospital Foundation and the Downtown Arcadia Association. Now, I want to show my children how important it is to give back. I want to be their role model and for them to understand the value in serving the community.
My priorities as a City Council member will be public safety and maintaining our strong property values. As a small business owner, I know the importance of keeping a balanced budget and being fiscally responsible. Being a longtime property owner, I’ve invested in our community and understand what an important asset our homes are. Additionally, I am the only District 2 candidate that can speak English, Mandarin and Cantonese fluently. I can help bridge the divide between new immigrants and longtime residents of Arcadia through communication, consideration and mutual respect. I came to the US as a young girl and was raised to appreciate both the traditions and culture of China as well as my new country of citizenship, here in America. I represent the next generation of civic leaders ready to take Arcadia into the future.
